Camel racing in the desert

Just outside Dubai, along the Al Ain Road, is a state-of-the-art camel racing track. Upon a friend’s suggestion to watch the races at 7:30 am, and since Cathy had to get up at 0-dark:30 due to some company event, I took my camera, Cathy’s SLK with the roof down (it’s great weather here now) and enjoyed the morning sun while heading down to the race track. There are thousands of camels and hundreds of traditional Arabs tending to them. No-one spoke English but that seemed not to matter. I was welcomed nonetheless and had a great morning watching this very traditional sport in the middle of the desert.
