Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque

Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque

On the Eastern side of the truly spectacular Naghsh-i Jahan Square, better known as Imam Square in Esfahan, Iran, is the Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque, known for its outstanding acoustics. Built in 1615, you can hear a needle drop loud and clear without any microphones thanks to the beautifully designed dome (not visible on this photo). I took this shot of the front facade in the evening sun, while a group of women walked by holding a flag to commemorate a religious event.
